Shoutout To Real Music Straight Up!

Genre personally impressed me with the Almost There track alone. It seems they took one situation and made a catchy, deep, melodic, lyrical, substance strong, etc. so many categories of hip hop were covered with the track. I ended up feeling like i was almost there with them after listening to the song a few times. A few points in the storyline were repetitive but with the story being facts you almost can't complain about it being consistent. A Stronger lyricist might have been able to add more personal aspects to the story (as the last artist did) but overall i was satisfied with the lyrical content, not impressed but satisfied. The song as a whole however was very impressive the covered three emotions of the storyline with each artist, one being the artist content with his position and willing to keep working, one being the artist who feels let down and is tired of the constant struggle, and one artist taking the angry perspective on the situation. Definitely worth a few listens on your ipod play list Genre has created a blueprint for a lot of local artist to follow with the phrase "be real". This is literally my first listen of the group and i already have a picture of what type of musicians and people they are through quality in depth music. Kudos!

Que Isnt Just A Letter! Its A Movement!

First things first http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7iZLfgWiF8&feature=youtu.be&a
check out this link if you haven't already! Every one like that moment when as artist has reached his maturity level with his lyrical content as well as when the verses that come from the artist actually start to paint a picture for the artist's image instead of just sounding like what people believe rappers are supposed to sound like. Que has come some ways in as a artist musically, he has never been a step behind with his monster team of promoters in 3D entertainment but lyrically all he has been in the past is a Kill Bill rendition "1,000 ways to kill you" and "500 weapons to do it with". I would like to think as music in general makes its way back around to lyrics we have grown from the "nice feature" being what makes an artist "blow" but despite the slight power move of collaborating with dip-set west, the focus should be on the crazy verse Que gives his audience! Not a fan of Young Hustle but his verse isn't too shabby either just another bragging and boasting session for the most part. The antics of Devon D playing Diddy is a rush before Que makes his lyrical entrance, giving his audience Milwaukee pride screaming to get his point across. Point blank Que slaughters it! although alot of his verses is still focused on killing every nigga in the world he has some amazing lyrical moments during his 16 bars rendition. "Harder and harder i go, niggas gone hate me the further i go! and I have sinned yea Father I know, but take me now there Father I go! I like how he tested his limits lyrically trying something new almost always turns out pleasant.

Ready For You Close Up?

After researching a lot of the talent Milwaukee has to offer I noticed a lot of artist settle for mediocre to poor standards in areas such as design, photography, production, and mixing. The reason professionals are present in these particular area are because the market of media does not accept product not up the standards presentable to the masses. I noticed a few artist with mixtape cover work done with Microsoft word or copying and pasting random items, imagine if your mixtape was to get noticed by a record executive and they put it out "as is" how would you feel knowing thousands of listeners would have a cover quality of that level. There are was to be creative without the means i admit but without the hands on experience need to complete these creative designs it is impossible for "you" (as in the artists) to meet such industry standards. These designers are not asking for much either, just a meal maybe or even a short from wal-mart. The same goes for the production, if you as a artist do not have the means to have quality custom instrumentals made or make them yourself i suggest you use industry instrumentals to establish your self as a artist worthy of a listen before you create a listener opinion of negativity by using terrible beats and trying to add you best flow and think that it'll work out. Just some advice to artist present your best you wouldn't wear sweats to an interview so why try to compromise in a area that you plan to make your career. Think about it.

Modern Warfare From The Young Major! Salute!

In the mist of all the hits and "jack music" Milwaukee has to offer there's some old fashion good time music. In a era where half of the musicians want the be the man "just cause" and have no background to support the argument that they are "the man" besides a few close friends who do the same thing every other artist in Milwaukee claim to be doing, you have to appreciate the artist you seem to have a smile on their face during each verse. Young Major does not present himself to be a lyricist nor does he say so in his verses, but he does profess to having a good time while he drives through the popular streets Milwaukee has to offer and enjoying the ladies in the meantime (how can anyone hate that). Although his newest track Come Over seems to show some of the old fashion good hook and filler verses trend. The summertime style chorus does carry the track quite strongly but for those who look for some substance or play on words in the verse, I must sadly inform you that the verses are simple in content and short in the explanations. I would have liked for Major to stretch the point a bit instead of just talking about "freaking" the girl I would have like to know the story behind the hook maybe gave me details on how the situation went down and the last verse could have went "ham" on the "freaking" part of the song. I think the classic are made due to attention to the details in the song, I'm not asking Major to become one of the Kweli's or Common type lyricist or even stretch his vocab but i will say we all know what happen when you steal a girl from her man, what happens differently from my situation and yours. Unique situations are what draws an audience, Wham offers what I am leading to. Instead of just talking about what kind of speakers and how loud his music is he breaks down what happens normally when your music is loud, what happens when his music is loud, and why he plays his music so loud. This track offers radio listeners a twist on a topic all to familiar which is what Hip Hop needs at this point. Everybody's is doing it but what makes you different from everybody else.

Milwaukee Beef?!

In the realm of music exist a territory in which all artists understand certain boundaries exist. These boundaries can have ranges in many areas such as lyrical lines, personal style, or even camp identity. The area where i have noticed some rivalry is in the area of camp identity. I'm sure many have heard or seen the conversations between labels CMG Music and Purple Label. It seems as though the beef started with a couple of identity affiliations between the two camps. Purple Label has made its mark on the city through a "brand name" using the label name to affiliate with each artist from project ideas stemming all the way down to artist clothing. Understanding the identity counts for so much in music the dispute has validity coming from the Purple Label side. In playing advocate I have to point out that since i first seen a Pizzle appearance (one of CMG's artist) he has been draped in the color that has been the roots of this "new" beef between the two labels. In my opinion i understand that you can't have two groups establishing themselves through an affiliation with a particular color. I will not say which camp i feel logically has the upper hand but i will say one of the two at the end of the day will lost a strong part of their marketing strategy in the use of the color. Hopefully by the next heated argument the city of Milwaukee will have some quality battle rap tracks to support each camp's argument and further the reason why we all feel the world should stay in tuned to the music world Milwaukee has to offer, seeing as though artist like Dri Cardan PD Manns, AG Da Gift, Pizzle, and Young Renz are of the two camps it should make an interesting and exciting battle between the two.
